Learn the art of sewing. No sewing experience needed!
Our 4-week after school sewing sessions for ages 8 and up meet twice a week and are designed to teach children and teens the art of sewing, design and the business of fashion through project based learning. Creativity is always on the lesson plan and students (and their parents) can see progression via their own actual creations. Through specialized projects and curriculum, developed just for Girls Rock! Sewing, our students learn the process of creative design and sewing.
Students will take home everything they've made in the class and so much more. Class will go over: pinning and cutting fabric, safely using the sewing machine, including threading, types of stitches and sewing machine safety, sewing tools, safety in the sewing area, choosing patterns and the types of fabrics while making items they can use and wear!
Kids and teens work independently, with guidance from the instructor, on their own projects and at their own pace. Apparel projects are sized to fit, we encourage students to try on their projects throughout the process. We also encourage creativity through the choosing of fabric and decoration of completed projects.
We recommend starting with a beginners sewing course for kids if they have never sewn before or operated a sewing machine. With on-going registration your child can join at any time. Students complete three projects that teach them the basics of using the sewing machine so they’re ready to continue to the next session.
